Archaeological evidence appears to prove that the workers who dragged and laid the 2.5-ton granite blocks making up the Egyptian pyramids died with broken bones and broken limbs. A burial ground one kilometer west of the Great Pyramid for King Cheops showed skeletons having abnormal bone outgrowths know as osteophytes, caused by chronic heavy labor. Some bone joints show wear and fear. Bodies have damaged spines, severed limbs or splintered feet. Average age of death was between 30 and 35.
