WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THE DEVIL?

  1. He is also Called Satan (Luke 10:18), “the wicked one” (Matthew 13:38), The “Enemy” (Verse 39), and is presented figuratively as a lion (1 Peter 5:8) and as a serpent or dragon (Revelation 12:9).
  2. Prior to his fall in heaven, he was know as Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-14) and occupied the exalted position of covering cherub (Ezekiel 28:14).
  3. Pride in the beauty and wisdom given him by the creator caused his fall (Ezekiel 28:12, 17).
  4. He is the leader of all the fallen angels, whom he seduced from their loyalty to God (revelation 12:4, 7). They along with him, were cast out of heaven (verses 8, 9).
  5. He is the author of sin (1 John 3:8) and is a murderer and a liar (John 8:44).
  6. He incites human beings to sin (John 13:2) and then accuses them before God as worthy of death (Zechariah 3:1-4; Revelation 12:10).
  7. In the guise of a serpent, he seduced humanity into sin in Eden (Genesis 3:1-6), thus bringing sin and death upon the entire human race (Romans 5:12; 3:23).
  8. His work is to ensnare, deceive, beguile, and tempt the human family (2 Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 6:11; 1 Timothy 3:7; 2 Timothy 2:26; Revelation 12:9).
  9. He snatches away the good seed of truth (Luke 8:11, 12) and disguises as am angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14)
  10. Christians are to resist him in the confident assurance that he will flee from them (Ephesians 4:27; James 4:7). When Jesus comes again, He will destroy the devil (Matthew 25:41; Romans 16:20; Revelation 20:10).
